On Davaar Island, our four distinctive properties offer something increasingly hard to find: privacy, space, and uninterrupted connection to the sea.
Davaar is defined by its wild coastal beauty - each property is individual in character, positioned to make the most of the island’s ever-changing light, vast horizons, and complete sense of escape.
Davaar is part of Kildalloig Estate, a 4,000-acre family-run farm. Highland cattle graze the island year-round alongside wild goats and native sheep, continuing a long agricultural tradition that has shaped this landscape for generations.
The island’s lighthouse, built in 1854 by David and Thomas Stevenson, stands as a lasting landmark above the sea, while the remarkable cave painting of *Christ on Calvary*, created here in 1887 by Archibald MacKinnon, remains one of Scotland’s most unexpected coastal discoveries.
Staying here is simple in essence but rare in experience — a place apart, where the rhythm of the mainland falls away, and the elemental beauty of island and sea takes its place.

Reaching Davaar is part of the experience — and it’s simpler than you might think. Just a short distance from Campbeltown, the island is connected to the mainland by a natural tidal causeway.
Davaar is reached via a natural tidal causeway crossing, known locally as The Dhorlin.
The tides shape the rhythm of life on the island, and we will help guide you on the best crossing times.
To make things easy, transfers between the mainland and Davaar Island at the beginning and end of your stay are included.
We take care of the logistics so your arrival is smooth and relaxed.
Many guests choose simply to settle into island life for the duration of their stay. However, if you would like to visit Campbeltown during your stay, additional crossings can usually be arranged, subject to availability, for £20 per trip.
Pets are also welcome by prior arrangement, with a £25 pet surcharge.
For those who would like to plan ahead, we publish the Davaar Island tide times for 2026, which can be viewed here.
If you have any questions at all about planning your journey, please don’t hesitate to contact us — we are always happy to help.
